Beyond the drama of tragic events lies the deafening, visceral and prolonged experience of grief. An experience that is seemingly untouchable by those who look in from the outside.

In this human portrait I’ve set out to give some sense of this experience.

For this is the experience that remains long after the drama of tragic events has fallen away. And we on the outside forget to ask. To engage. Surely missing the most human of opportunities.

Simon is courageous beyond belief in his willingness to face grief, and to not turn away. My hope is that you can see him. And in doing so, glimpse an aspect of yourself.

I speak more about making the film in this TED talk, ‘How to See Someone Naked‘.
