A Girl Struck Silent

Perhaps I wrote these few words about a character everyone knows. Or perhaps I wrote it for everyone who ever uttered a single word.

‘A Girl Struck Silent’

A girl whose words filled
every conceivable space,

was struck totally
and utterly silent.

Struck by what,
no one quite knew.

But in the resulting
clear space,

she not only drew
meaningful and
much needed breath

but for the first time
recognized a very
different possibility
for her remaining days.
