Lonely in a Crowd

She stood lonely in a crowd.

Her tears too afraid to
show themselves.

Hiding behind words
she didn’t believe.

And a face too
fragile to belong.

She appeared strong.
But a single glance
from a soul who knew,
would break the charade.

And with it the illusion of
loneliness. That had only
ever lived in her thoughts.
