Twelve Years ago today I picked up the camera for the first time. With no idea why, how or in service of what. But knowing is knowing. Its experience is far beyond wanting or believing. The twelve years was preceded by about five years of wondering, and wandering with no specific direction. Blind step after blind step in search of something I couldn’t put words to. Before that I’d run a company but knew it to be insignificant to the point of this life of mine.
I took this photograph on the first day of filming. After this first film, shot in amongst the unexamined misery of a damp London MONDAY MORNING commute, I switched to close up human portraits almost exclusively.
