There are films that describe the world.
And there are films in which the world appears to speak back.
On Our Watch is one of those films.
It emerged during an Inner View session with George Orbelian, filmed live in the presence of an audience.
George had not prepared these words. He was not asked to make an environmental statement. Yet what arose was a voice of extraordinary force — not speaking about the ocean as a subject, but from a depth of identification with it.
The result is difficult to categorize.
It is not advocacy in the usual sense. It is not performance. It is not commentary.
It is a human being, in stillness, allowing something larger than the personal self to speak.
This film is offered as an encounter.
With the ocean.
With ourselves.
And with what can no longer be avoided.
